If Charles Krauthammer's logic and research skills are any example of the quality of Neo-con analysis , no wonder the US is in such dire straits! Krauthammer tells us in a recent op-ed piece that stem-cell research has been "aided by the president's stance", a very cautious approach to when stem-cells may be used for research. His "proof" is the discovery of possible stem-cells in amniotic fluids . This celebration is at best i pre -mature and at worst careless.
Dr George Daley, Harvard University stem -cell researcher, said that the discovery shouldn't be used as a replacement for human embryonic stem-cell research . Daley continued: " While they(amniotic stem cells) are fascinating subjects of study..., they are not a substitute for human embryonic stem cells which allow scientists to address a host of other interesting questions in early human development". Krauthammer notes no medical experts in his jejune jump on the bandwagon. Not a big surprise since scientific rigor has rarely been involved in recent right-wing political stances from contraception to global warming.
